Changed my oil last saturday. As I was under the truck saw some oil drip off the rear freeze out plug. When on & finished my change. Monday called the dealer where I have been taking my truck told me to bring it in on wed. Took it in got a call from him wed afternoon told I had spilled oil from the filter when I had changed it before. Told him I had never spilled any oil when pulled the filter. He said it looked like old oil. After he hung up I got to thinking.Rembered the selling Dealer did my first oil change for Free. Called him back told him what i had rembered . Told me they would put dye in it for me to drive it 5 or 6 hundard miles than bring it back they would check it with the light. So I guess wal-mart & other quik lube places are not the only places that screw up!
Even the dealer can screw up. I had taken my old 05 Dodge for an oil change and there guy didnt tighten the drain plug rite. We drove 50 miles loosing oil before check engine lite came on after we had lost the last of the oil. By the time it was all said and done it cost them about 20k to fix my truck plus towing and rental.
You have to watch them closely. I have been known to start her up and check all around and under to make sure everything is okay and that no tools are left under the hood.
