Problem with dealership

I am new here but I am asking for an opinion. I bought a2004 f250 FX4 truck 2.5 years ago. During that purchase, part of that deal was that the dealership had to put new tires on the truck which they did. Just recently however I found out that the tires are a load rating C tire. So I contacted the dealership about this 3 weeks ago and I just now finally received a call back from the service manage stating that they fulfilled their end of the deal and will not replace the tires with the correctly rated tire. Is it my fault that they put an under rated tire on the truck? I didn't even know there was different tires for 150s and 250s at the time. This dealership has been a problem from day one and here is my whole history.

Ok so here is my history thus far.* When I purchased my truck, there were a couple things that needed to be taken care of.* The first being a drag link in the steering system that needed to be replaced and the other were the tires.* So part of my deal with buying this truck was that the steering piece would be replaced and new tires would be put on the truck. after 2 days of telling me the truck was ready, when I get to the dealership the steering was not fixed.* I had to show the technician the faulty part and the problem so they would fix it.* New tires were installed on the truck and I took possession of the truck.* A few months later, I noticed that the cylinder head on the drivers side was leaking oil so I brought it in to be checked out.* After inspection they found the leak as i described and told me that their engine tech was in the middle of a diesel engine R&R and* they told me that I would receive a call to reschedule the appointment.* till this day 2 years later I have yet to receive this call.* Now, just 3 weeks ago I had a job in Idaho.* On my way there I noticed that my tires were shaking so* I went to Les Schwab to have them balanced.* The Technician would not touch the tires because they were not the correct load range for my truck.* Ford Service installed load range "C" tires on my truck that requires a load range "E" tire. So when I got back from my job I called Ford that following Monday and voiced my concern and was told I would receive a call back.* I waited until Thursday the week after, so 11 days later, and called back again.* I talked to John Sweigert, which he was part of my purchase originally, and I told him what was going on.* He tells me I will get a call back. I called John on Saturday and left a message to have John call me.* I called again a couple hours later and got thru to John this time.* He tells me that the service manager will be calling me since they put the tires on the truck. So as of today I have not yet received a call back or a resolution to my problems.* So I hope you see my frustration with my entire experience with this dealership.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the site mavrex. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but it sounds like you may be stuck with what you got. The biggest problem here is the 2.5 year time period. And understanding that maybe you didn't know about the tires and all, but still, after 2 1/2 years, and with a used truck to start with, I imagine the dealer is under no obligation to help. They may or may not out of good will, but I would not put any money on that. I think the best thing at this point is to just move on. If the truck has been good other than those things, take it somewhere else and get it fixed and be done with the old dealer.

Good luck...

Hello Mavrex. Welcome to FTE.

Had you been a member when you purchased your truck, you probrably wouldn't be in this position. I am a commited member, so I have to be honest with ya.

1. When they failed to get back with you after 2.5 years about your engine issue, you should've called them to give them maybe another shot at your business. Since you didn't you shouldn't bi*** about it now.

2. Why in the world did you even take your vehicle back there now? To complain about a problem with 2.5 year old tires? Did you never check your pressure or anything involving your tires in 2.5 years? You're screwed on the tires dude and you should be IMO. Again, I apologize but I must be honest.

There is problem i can see with this situation, unfortunately it may be you. There may be a reason the dealership didnt want your business? Hate to be harsh to a new member, but your story makes no sense to me.

Just go to a different stealership with a better (positive) attitude and see if that helps. I wish you the best of luck with this. Please be sure to tell us how it works out.

Now stand by for more beatings from my fellow FTE members.
Although not everyone is an A** like me.

Forget phone calls, you need to go in to the dealership and speak to someone in person. Preferably the owner, or the general manager if the owner isn't available. Explain to them that they have put you at a serious safety risk by putting the wrong tires on your truck, and you expect them to make it right. If they refuse, I don't think there's a whole lot you can do other than take your business elsewhere in the future.

Unfortunately, they will probably try and say that you can't prove those are the same tires that they put on, and that they aren't going to do anything for you since it's been 2.5 years. Too many businesses these days don't understand that keeping customers happy is important to running a good business. Eating a few hundred bucks now to keep a customer happy will likely mean you make thousands off of them in the future.

I will be taking my truck to a different dealership for the warranty engine work and any other services going forward. My main issue at this point is that the dealership , who works, services and sells these trucks installed an incorrect tire on this truck. Fine buyer be ware of incorrect new parts. Dealer may try to kill you. At this point I would figure FORD would have had its fair share of tire related issues and fatalities in the past to never let this happen. Maybe it's just me. I have put less than 5K miles on this since I purchased it and the tires look new to this day. All that I am looking for from this dealership is that the correct tire to be installed as it should have been in the first place even if I have to pay for the amount of tire I have consumed on these tires.
Quad racer thanks for the intro and tough love but to be honest I trusted that the dealership was taking care of me as a customer. I don't use the truck that much and the tires don't look any different now than the day I bought the truck. I've always been a ford owner with multiple mustangs, maverick, f150 etc and have never had this treatment with any other dealership. I don't feel this is my fault however I do see your points , thanks

You are 2 1/2 years after the purchase and the dealer moved on long ago. The best advise is to buy new tires in a load range e , and then remarket yours probably on craigslist to get something back out of it. Too bad you didnt check when it first happened.

I would write a letter to the owner of the dealership explaining your situation and your loyalty to Ford. You might be surprised at what a letter to the BIG boss can accomplish.

If that fails, replace the tires yourself and chalk it up to experience.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

I agree with BigPigDaddy on this.
You have to look when you got it 2.5 years is way too long.
Over that amount of time things change. The salesman I normally
deal with moved after 15 years and the new sales manager really
screwed me over on a new truck the last spring. I walked in after
5 days of waiting for the truck to come in so I could look at it. I
was told the that it had been sold at auction. This was after they said
that it would be on the lot on Monday. I had come in and filled out all
the paperwork that weekend. The new salesman did not even have the
smarts to call me and say he screwed up. Long story short I told the
sales manager that not only was not happy but they are not to call me
even if they find what I was looking for. Moral to the story is places change.
Sometimes not for the better.

some dealers dont care about any thing but your money and how they get it, looks like this deal is one of them

@ 2.5 years later i really dont think the dealer is going to do any thing except raise your blood pressure now if it was a weak or so later that be another story i've had my share of dealing with a horrible dealer and in the end I think it shaved 10 years off my life so save your self the heartache and headache's move on something I should have done

I agree sell the tires your taking off on CL you should be able to get a chunk of your cash back

Unfortunately you'll have this with any dealership. I've had nothing but problem with 5 out of 6 Ford dealership I've been to. The only reason why I say 5 out of 6 is because I had to go to #6 after #5 said they fixed the problem when they actually made it worse. #5 wasn't open to finish the job they screwed up and #6 did saying it was #5 fault.
I had a stealership say I need to have injectors replaced, truck was puffing white smoke and barely running. The actual problem was water in the tank. Had the tank dropped, drained, fuel filters changed(twice), and guess what, truck runs great with no injectors replaced.Haven't found an honest stealership to date. Well actually found one. Going to stealership #7 soon because I don't know how to work on the diesel, nor have the tools to do so. Sure wish I did.
Contacting Ford hasn't work either. Complained to them about #1 selling me a truck with a bent rear housing. Found out the dealer knew about the problem and lied about it. As long as the money keeps coming in that's all that matters. All I would like is a trustworthy qualified diesel mechanic and I would never leave. If I had the time and money I'd drive the 1100 mile to dealership #6 to have all my work done. Good Luck

I guess I don't understand the concern about the tires. The load range C can't carry what the Es can, but are fine for a lightly loaded truck. Is the truck being used for heavy hauling? Then you need the right tires. Is the truck being used to haul a deer out of the woods? The Cs should work just fine. Just know your limits.

I forgot to ask - what pressure are you running in your tires?
