I am looking at installing some type of lighting in the bed so I can see the 5th wheel hitch at night. Anybody else do something like that? I am looking for something that will be out of the way so as to not be easily broken.
If anyone else has done something like this I would sure like to see and hear about what you did and how you like it.
Thanks to all!
I installed the Recon truck bed lights. They are LED clusters that have 6 LEDs per cluster. There are 4 clusters to each side of the bed and install up under each bed rail. I wired mine to the 3rd upfitter switch so they can be switched on but only when the key is in the on position. Here is the link.
Lonewolf, do those lights from Recon give off a lot of light? Are you happy with them at night? They look like just what I am looking for but dont want to spend $100 on them if they are not going to do anything except glow
No, they light up very well and give of a soft bright light. Mounting them was a pain for me as I had my truck bed sprayed and the 3m tape didn't stick very well. You can see there are little screw hooks on each cluster which I had to use.
Recon was very helpful and even when one of the clusters went bad they sent me a new string to replace it. They are a sponser and have excellant customer service. This is the best application for light in the truck bed I have found yet.
