JBradley,
I just bought a pro comp dizzy as well. Im a little confused how this thing hooks up. Did you have to cut your factory harness to hook it up?
Guys, just look at the left sidebar and see the FTE sponsor D.U.I. distributor... Same thing! Only difference I know of is, D.U.I. will curve your distributor for you, I think as a free service, according to your engine specs.
For $50 and getting a 50,000 volt coil and polished shaft, that is one heck of a steal!
You will likely find instructions at the manufacturer's website.
ok, so we put the distributor in, and it still wouldnt start...it was getting fuel, and when we cranked it, the spark plug would just arch to any piece of metal....and when the key was on, both terminals on the coil had juice, but when we removed the negative and the tach wire, there was no juice....anybody have any insight?
All you have to do is run a new 12 volt heavy gauge wire from the fuse box to the "bat" terminal on the dist. It's right beside the "tach" terminal. You cannot use the original ignition wiring on any Ford that was originally points or duraspark II. Even the GM guys cannot use their original ignition wires from 1974 down.
If you have 12 volts on the "bat" terminal during cranking and run positions, then take a sparkplug wire off and stick a screwdriver up in the wire and hold it near a piece of metal. If you have a spark that jumps while you crank it, then the dist is working, and you either havea fuel problem or a timing problem.

4) Installation instructions
5) Each DUI is assigned an individual I.D. No., so that you can call us with your number to see if the advance curve is appropriate if you change cam, pistons, etc. or you want to put it into another motor.
6) We utilize high qualtiy coils and modules that perform and are very durable.
"Go Fast For Less" explains how to make your Dizz HEI. I did this to my 82 300 I6.
Works great but you need to run a new wire from the ignition switch to the coil.

The new wire has to be from a switched position in the fuse box else the engine will not shut off. jd
