FYI: Hybrid Customer Satisfaction Program "Recall"
Hybrid owners,
Ford is issuing it's own recall to "certain owners of 05-07 Escapes and 06-07 Mariners." The recall is Customer Satisfaction Program number 07B48
Issue: A false Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), causing a "red triangle" with an audible chime and a message center indication of "Stop Safely Now" may occur on your vehicle. This false DTC is triggered by corrosion of a resister in the power unit, located in the battery module. As a result, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will command the vehicle to shut down.

Thanks for posting this Rich - I meant to and forgot. I read about this a week or more ago on the hybrid boards and thought I was off the hook since I didn't get anything from Ford.....until yesterday.
Both of mine are on the list but I'm going to wait a bit to make sure the dealer has the part and to see what other folks' experience getting the work done is.
I'm also a little hesitant to bring in the '05 since it still has the outstanding recall on the padding under the headliner - I just don't want them screwing with that but I know once it goes in they'll just do it.
It will take a couple of years to work all the quirks out of the hybrids.
Not at all. In fact, it took a couple of years to FIND a quirk with the Escape hybrid. They have been out for about three years now and so far there have been very few issues on a large scale. I've had my '05 for 31 months now and it hasn't been back to the dealer yet for anything. This is probably the only new car I have ever had that did not have some warranty related issue in the first couple years. My '06 is 28 months old and it has been back once and that was for a power lock motor.
Ford got this one right and I'll accept a couple minor issues now and then.
