New reflash for all 6.4L
Hey guys. I work at a local Ford dealership in Wenatchee WA and came across a new reflash for all trucks. People should be seeing letters in the mail and I thought everyone should know. I have been updating PCMs for anyone that asks but this will make it so every dealership has too!! Recall # is 08B07.
Here is the letter you will be getting. I am downloading the software to our shop laptop and am going to try it on my own personal truck before I start recommending it to customers.

Your Vehicle Identification Number: 12345678901234567
TIME IS LIMITED – PROGRAM ENDS JANUARY 31, 2009
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE THIS SERVICE REPAIR COMPLETED AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE.
At Ford Motor Company, it has been our goal for more than 100 years to provide customers with
high-quality, dependable products. In order to maintain these standards, Ford Motor Company is
providing a no-charge Customer Satisfaction Program (Program Number 08B07) for your vehicle,
with the Vehicle Identification Number shown above.
What is the issue? Your vehicle may exhibit drivability concerns, including elevated idle during
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration, minor cruise control speed
fluctuation, automatic transmission shift quality (if equipped), and a false
Check Engine Indicator Light. In addition, some customers have advised
Ford Motor Company they would like to know when their vehicle is
regenerating the DPF.
What will Ford and
your dealer do?
In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has
authorized your dealer to reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM),
Transmission Control Module (TCM) (automatic transmission only), and
the Instrument Cluster (IC) free of charge under the terms of this program.
This software will address the drivability concerns listed above and update
the Instrument Cluster Message Center to display new information. For
further details on how the new software will revise the message center,
refer to the Customer Information Sheet provided with this letter.
This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until January 31, 2009
regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to
subsequent owners.
How long will it
take?
The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to
service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a
longer period of time.
What are we asking
you to do?
Provide the dealer with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your
vehicle and request a service date prior to January 31, 2009 for Customer
Satisfaction Program 08B07. The VIN is printed near your name at the
beginning of this letter.

I got the new updated flash on my J1 03/07 built last month. My son is a Ford Diesel Tech and reprogramed the truck for me. According to him the regen message will not appear on all trucks. It didn't appear on mine. Shifting is a bit smoother but no MPG gain. In fact I don't see much of a change other then no more regens in the driveway when parking. Still getting 13.5mpg empty as it has for the last yr mixed driving.

My truck was done last Thursday and The driver infromation center does not tell me anything different. It's kind of funny knowing more than your dealer. For those of you that didn't see the earlier post of this there is a third page that tells us what we should see on our drivers infromation center. It also states what we should do when our truck goes into regen. Drive it for 20 minutes at speeds greater that 30mph to complete the cycle.
