Let us know if they replaced your harness connector. On my 03 all they did was add a fuse link in the harness. Not a real "fix" more of a Bandaid. When I asked service advisor what the mod was he showed me the harness they added & told me all it does is provide a fuse to open in case "something" goes wrong that might otherwise start a fire. Would not elaborate on what caused the fire.
You mentioned that your horn would stay on after you pressed it?
Mine had a similar symptom... it would happen very randomly. I'd press the horn and then it wouldn't stop when I released it. I'd have to beat the steering wheel to get it to stop. Then it started going off on its own.
The problem I had was that the pressure switch in the steering wheel had gone bad. It is flat and sits ontop of the air bag just under the vinyl cover on the center of the steering wheel.
I couldn't buy a new one because that part only comes with the whole air-bag assembly. So I ended up taking it out and rigging it with some foam inside of the switch to make it turn off when I released it.
Not sure if this is helpful or not... but the symptom you mentioned sounded like what happened to me.
My horn also died... it went off one night and was blowing for about an hour before the horn itself broke.
I bought the CC Switch from the dealer becasue I had the Recall done and the CC worked. I know I needed the Clock Spring becasue my horn was not wroking accordingly so that TOO was the problem. My CC Switch was dekuged with Brake fluid so the new switch took care of that. This was stressful but thank you guys for your help and I hope I can help someone soon with this information.
So they made you had to buy another switch? Even if the recall has been done..they still should of replaced it for free again, especially considering it was a major recall.
