I had a series of some wacky adventures this morning on my way into Austin headin to the office.. Lets see..
First one, I was just pokin long on I35 South outside Pville and I see this cummapart going in and out of traffic to catch me.. I'm not in the slighest mood to race, it's early and I'm cranky.. So he gets beside me and starts his little lunging.. So I pop'd the throttle and shot out some good ol' Soot.. He just looked at me and drove on.. Guess he got the indication that it was a waste of his time to even attempt to race me.. Sad part was, dude was like 50 years old.. Most time it's these kids in daddy's truck who want to play with me..
So.. Second one.. Now I'm not one to poke fun at a fellow SDer.. We are family, but this dude CRACKED me up.. He came up onto I35 behind me and I was moving over to catch the toll road.. He comes flying up beside me, looks at me, waves and then floors it while looking in his mirror.. I'm just laughing, he's got stock exhaust and I'm honestly not sure if he was trying to make me get a boner by the sound of his exhaust or what.. I had half a mind to ditch the toll road, take the long route just so I could get beside him on his side and show him what a straight exhaust sounds like on our Diesel.. But I elected to just go to work..
And the final one, this is the good one.. I'm driving down the toll road to the office.. Traffic is ok, normal for a 8:45 rush hour.. I'm just cruising along, jamming to music, enjoying my morning dip of Copenhagen.. I look in my mirrors to check traffic and I spot a camera.. Some girl in the lane to my left was trailing behind me holding a camera taking pictures of my truck.. So I rolled the throttle and gave her a lil smoke show.. Now I'm wondering why the hell she was taking pictures, if she was someone I pissed off recently, just admiring the truck or wanting to post a "Missed Connection" on CraigsList.. I dunno'.. But boy this morning was totally weird
Why cant cleveland be like that? haha all people here with sd's or ex's are all old and dont like to have some fun with there trucks. especially in the morning!
I think Excursions are part of the SD's for two main reasons 1) Excursions are under the Super Duty/Heavy Duty forum 2) Excusrions were made in the same plant as the Super Duties (Kentucky Truck Plant).
Wow that's one heck of a morning commute, I never realized that the SD's attract other trucking morons for street racing I was trying to get away from that by selling my WRX STI.

LOL.. Most know me around here to be a rather fast SD... Nowhere near the fully hip'd new turbo, bigger injectors etc.. But with stock parts I've ran alot of guys silly.. So I tend to attract a lot of attention..
I feel you on the WRX ordeal.. I'm looking for a Skyline GT-R33 or R34 that's US legalized. We found one in Dallas that had 50k miles on it, imported and legalized from Japan. Right seat driver, fully integrated KM/h dash, full GReddy package, HIAS disabled, front drive shaft disconnected.. Was a beauty except someone nab it for 30k
Beside my truck, the Skyline is my dream car.. Just hard as hell to find a "Good one" in the US that is legalized.. Finding an R-34 is even worse due to it being so Non-EPA regulated..

Being new around here I didn't know that you had a moded SD (duh I should have looked at your sig).
As to street racing and the STI it's just ridiculous: every idiot with a fart can Honda revs at me, I get flybys on the interstate with idiots blowing off at me - it drives me MAD.
Mmmm... Skyline just thinking about the R33 or R34 makes me drool. That is by far and away the car I would most like to own as well: they are simply amazing! Did you know that Nissan has plans to bring the Skyline GT-R to the US (FINALLY) sometime in Spring of '08?

I've had some mornings like that too, Storm, when you're kind of cranky and just don't feel like showing someone up. Except I'm one of those "old" dudes you referenced - no offense - still enjoy my occasional race, except its usually duro's or come-alongs. Have had a couple SDer's though. Mine is way more stock "looking" than yours, though. Must be the big exhaust that gets their attention - they never see my front anyway, lol! And yes, the third reason Ex's are SD's is they just plain look cool, like the SD's!
You gotta watch those guys that are almost 50.....we're a bunch.....I mean.....they're a bunch of idiots!
Last week I was heading to a job, a brand new Mustang pulls up next to me at the light. Has dealer tags on it. Guy driving it starts looking at me and revving the engine. I look around, no one else is there, he must mean me....so when the light turns green I stand on the throttle, he does pops the clutch at what sounds like 4000 RPM and takes a few thousand miles off of his back tires (I thought those things had traction control?) while I jump out to a decent lead. He finally catches me and starts the lunge forward while looking at me, just about rearends a dump truck! I pulled over at the next gas station to get a cup of coffee and stop laughing.

Oh yes I for sure heard that.. I don't know how its going to appear with the engines.. I'm afraid the Government is going to go haywire and cut back on a bunch of goodies that come on the Skyline..
I was hoping to nail that one in Dallas.. $30,000 was a damn good price on it.. Just would need to get use to the Right seat driving lol.. So much for drive thru's

I mean no disrespect I thought it was funny.. Around here you dont run into too many Older men who actually enjoy street racing.. Most times we get them yelling at us for either dumping soot or driving fast... It's nice to see someone of the prior generation willing to get down and have some illegal fun Keeps you young..

LOL.. I've raced few Stangs.. Get some lead but then they get me in that top end.. Always happens.. I just don't feel comfortable at 100+ with 35" tires hhaha
