I appreciate the quick response.

I tow two different horse trailers. Both are goosenecks, but one is a LQ trailer that weighs in at 14,000# with horses and gear. We had a big weekend planned about 4 hours from home. Trail riding with good friends, some of whom we had not seen for quite a time. Really looking forward to it. Two hours from home my trans temp started to rise. My truck (2003 7.3) is stock. When the needle edged toward the yellow band on the gauge, I pulled over. She cooled down, but it didn't take a moment for the situation to repeat. We were closing in on some pretty good hills and made a call to turn around and head for the house. I couldn't drive much over 45 all the way home if I didn't want the trans temp to edge up toward the yellow. Ambient temps outside were in the 80's.

My plan:
Get the Tru-Cool unit installed. Install an air intake system. Install MBRP 4" pipes. Edge EVO II with gauge, tuned by DP-Tuner.

Sure to goodness the above plan will allow this truck to handle the trailer! My wife says, Do whatever it takes to get the job done!! If you have horses or know anyone who does, you know the money and time invested versus the precious little time you get to ride them. When we start canceling vacation time because we can't pull the trailer, something's GOT to change!

What he is talking about is a valve body for the transmission from Brian's Truck Shop. This will help your transmission deal with the added power that you are putting through it and keep your shifts nice and firm, not mushy.

I've been running a 6.0 cooler ever since I got my BTS transmission in......much larger than the 7.3 cooler, never gotten my temps over 150* (hot days in stop and go heavy traffic).
