hey guys, i know its not that bog of a deal but when i first found out about this site i jumped on and jooined and posted right away without lurkin around a little first to see what you guys were about, i had no idea this was more geared to stock restoration and preservation of the slick 60s, if i would have done some research i may ave noticed that customs arent first look around here, but i do love the site and appreciate all your guys help.
Not all of us are pure restorers or prefer totally stock trucks. But when you look at the # of foolish trucks driving on the roads or in magazines some of us do find the end of our patience. I personally welcome new and interesting ideas. So with that said you never stepped on my toes.
Don't know what you said, but I certainly wouldn't call this a 'stock restoration' group. There are more customized trucks on here than stock ones from what I can tell.
It's good to have someone else on who shares ideas on customizing with class. Not wanting to butcher, mame or mutilate the "Slicks" but wanting to make a custom classic ride. Now there are purest here who detest the altering of the "Slick" but there are some of us who appreciate beauty in all forms. It's your ride do what you will ask the questions you need to. Keep it a FORD and you'll be fine.
No offense taken. While it's true you probably won't find much help putting the Z06 motor in your uni here I for one appreciate your skill and ability and promise not to talk crap about you or your truck because of engine choice. That is until it makes it into custom classic trucks then all bets are off due to jealousy. Rich
As with all things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think custom is making it what you want, my Slick is a daily driver/worker, she just hauled a few thousand lbs. of dirt, towed the trailer with the tractor up to the house, and does it all in style!! I have to say one of the fun things is rolling up to a stoplight with a trailer and medium/large Kubota tractor with front bucket and rear gannon on it and see people looking and a guy giving me a thumbs up, and have a new "pretty" truck stop next to me and even he is lookin. Custom is what works for you!

I remember you getting blasted for your custom Slick. I thought it was un-called for. I like customs and mine is definitely NOT going to be a stock restoration. My 66 is getting power steering/disc brakes, filled stake pockets, shaved emblems, filled seams, and will be wearing (gasp) Chevy Corvette Flame Orange when the time comes. Oh, and don't forget the 460/auto combo that I am currently in search of. To me, stock can be a little boring sometimes. So don't apologize, customize.
Im ok with guys that want to get thiers back to stock. I think thats great. However on mine I will change things if for no other reason then just to be different. This is why I spent countless hours shaving body lines. I think all the moulding, emblems and body lines the truck had originaly made it look to busy. Lets face it technology has come a long way, and i will use it to make my truck better.
