Hey guys, great site. I am new around here so this is my first post. I am looking for a used F250 truck, 03,04 or 05 with the big bad V10. I have been reading a few posts about this motor and sounds just what I want. I do quite a bit a pulling in the winter with my snowmobile trailer and sleds. I have been looking in the $22,000 to $24,000 dollar range. I do know that the 03, and 04 motors are 2V and the 05 is the 3V motor. 310 horse to 362 horse. How are the 03 and 04 motors compared to the new 05 motor. Thanks guys. Also what kind of gear should I be looking for.
I Would look for an 05 V10 with 4.30 gears. Thats just me though. Ive got a 99 V-10 and it has plenty of power for me...Well at least it did till I put 37 inch tires on it with 3.73 gears...But thats another story!
This is a great site with some really awesome people, you will love it!
I know where there's a nice 2004 CrewCab, V10 4x4 with 4.30s and a Banks PowerBack already installed. It only has 20,000 miles on it. It's at a dealer in MA so, it might be kiind of far for you. It used to be mine until i traded it in on a motorhome.
I have nothing to gain other than seeing someone who appreciates what I put into the truck enjoying it. pm me if you want more info.
I've never driven a 3V but my 2V w/ 4.30 gears is a beast. So I'd imagine if you can find a 3V w/ the same set up, do it. But don't shy away from the 2V. You won't be disappointed either way.
Thanks guys, I have been looking around on Autotrader.com for some trucks in my area. I have found a few 04 V10 so far. I stopped on Sun and looked at one. 04 V10 with 47,000 miles for $19,999 Did not get to drive it, as they were closed. Cant wait to drive one. My dad has the V10 in his 03 32 foot motor home. Should be better to drive in the truck though.
When I bought my 04 F350 SC XLT w/ 31,000 on it last year, the dealer was asking $28,300. This was when gas just started climbing thru the roof. I paid $25,000. It's fairly heavily optioned, leather and such. So I'd say your right in the ballpark.
Welcome to the site. The trucks you have found so far seem to be priced very well. Just don't pay what they are asking. Make an offer you are comfortable and then enjoy your new ride.
Those prices aren't bad, but like Ken (Monsta) said, give them an offer first. Don't just pay top dollar. You'd be surprised how much some people will move on the price.
