It was slightly more involved than that , but not really something that I feel needs to be brought back up at this point.

I'm confused how the grease gets into the bearing from the area where the tone ring is , or the reluctor (if that is what it is called)Aren't these sealed bearings?.....

I'm not positive that it does. However, both of my factory hubs failed within the first 2.5 years I owned the truck. Now, we know that the bearings are sealed from the outside, but I wasn't sure if they were completely sealed from each other inside the housing, so I packed the cavity between the two full of grease. No issues with the hubs in the almost five years since then. One can infer from this information that at least some grease makes it into the bearings....but until one is completely disassembled we won't know for sure.
Hmm, maybe a disection for my old bearings is in place. I can check it out on my old ABS wheel bearing. I just gotta make that tool to check if it is getting grease inside the bearing. Ill try it out tommorrow if time premits.
I am deffinetly wanting one of those "springer hub lube adapter" i am having an issue right now my left wheel bearing is so dry it is squeaking and driving me crazy. PLEASE put me on the list I am willing to donate for your time and will pay for overnite shipping.

If it's dry to the point of making noise, the damage is already done.
