XLT Or Lariat Instrument Cluster On An STX

Well i hate the fact that my STX doesnt have a tachometer. Im pretty sure its possible for me to get either an XLT or Lariat Cluster installed easily, i know that i would need to get it programed at a ford dealership. If the new cluster had the message center would that work on my truck and also how much should i expect? Thanks in advace.

I have an XLT and I think the FX4 instrument cluster looks better.

Dang, I can't come up with a good non-answer. How about, "yeah, tachs are cool!"

Anyway, not knowing first hand whether it would work or not, I'm guessing it would as long as you get the programming done that you already know you need to have done. Maybe not the outside temperature sensor, though, if the truck doesn't have one now. The CAN-bus network being in the truck makes me think the new cluster should be able to grab any data it needs to display off the network.

Seems like there was a thread quite a few months ago along these lines.

Take a look at the FX4 instrument cluster I put in my '04 STX. This one does not have the message center.
