Where are any and all the vin numbers that could be on a 57-60 F100? No door tag and the glove box tag doesn't seem to match. Could you guys please help me figure out if this is truly a 57 or 60. Things just dont seem to be adding up.
It`s very hard to find but there will be a vin stamped on the frame rail.
I don`t know about the 57-60`s but my 53 and 56 had the vin stamped on top of the left side close to the front wheel ahead of the cab. Some trucks had vin stamping on the right frame rail.
Anyone else care to jump in?

1957 Ford pickups have single headlamps, 58/60's have dual headlights.
There is no door tag. The VIN and other info is on the tag on the inside of the glove box door. Is this VIN different than what's on your registration?
1957/60: The 5th (and 6th on 1960's) digit in the VIN is the year. 7 = 1957; 8 = 1958; 9 = 1959; 10 = 1960.
The truck has been sitting for years. I think the last time it was registered was in 1993. A friend whos father past away some years ago gave it to me. I ran the vin that is inside the glovebox when I first got the truck. Here is what that came out to be:
1960 Custom Cab
Engine was a 223
3 speed manual
4x4
Now for what I see of this truck so far.
Engine is a 292 V8
4 speed manual trans
4x2 not 4x4
57 Hood
Not sure the year but the front clip doesnt appear to be a 60. See picture below. Oh yeah and something else I found to be strange was only the passenger door has a factor key hole. The drivers side does not have one.
Any help in determining what I actually have would be a great help.
