Hey folks I have the axle codes off of the tag but I am confused. I obviously have a Ford 9 inch rear end but when I crossed the rear wheeel seal number it crossed over to a Dana 44. My tag reads ( according to Axle code number that is stamped in a tag the left side axle tube near the differential carrier ) reads WDM-AC 9FC
3. 25 8.7 317A
I was just wondering, before I order new seals, are they the same as the Dana 44? my seal number is national 51098.
any input would be greatly appreciated. I have pics of the axle rebuild in my gallery if that helps. Thanks everyone in advance you folks are always a great help.
you have a 9" rear end from a 63 - 71 Ford 1/2 ton, 3.25 ratio, non- locking with the 8-3/4 ring gear, 28 spline axles.
the seals could be the same as a Dana 44, just go to the parts counter and ask for axle seals for one of those year trucks with the 28 spline axle and you should get the correct seal. if that is the seal number that came off your axle and it checks out ot be correct size on the axle, then you can order the same seal.
