I am doing a lift and going to be running 35 bfg's , I was told by some the programmers do not change speedo's on the ford. Anyone know of any that will or do I have to take it to a dealer to get done! Thanks for any advice!
I think the PCM can be reprogrammed for 35's (or close enough) by your dealer. I think the lowest limit is 600 Revs Per Mile. What are the Revs Per Mile for the tires you're getting?
I used a Truespeed from Superlift. I set it to a GPS at 75 mph. It seemed to bring the transmission shift points back to stock parameters. I beleive that the computer was adjusting by mph, and that was definately off. I bought mine for $120.00 in 2001, they are probably $200.00 now.
Superchips makes one too. It looks just like the tuner. I think it removes the speed limiter too. $250.00
check "scam"bay for a super lift TruSpeed, i found mine for $125 shipped to my door! you should be able to get it for around $150-$175!
heard that guys are dissapointed with the programmers that claim to change speed, but don't! i don't know, i've never used one that claims to do that. i'd go with the true speed, works great and decent price!
The Superchips Tire paq allows you to correct and recalibrate your speedometer for tire size and gear changes, it does not remove the speed liniter. It can be updated over the internet to a full featured tuner. It is not made for the Ford products yet.
My SCT SF adjusted the speedo. Just need to input the Revs per mile for the particular tire size. I checked the speedo with GPS after the reflash and its spot on. The dealer didn't charge my dad anything to adjust his speedo, he didn't even have to ask. Unfortunatly that one GOOD dealer has been closed.
