front grille and side mirror upgrades
folks,
i'm looking to purchase an ex this fall but all i can afford is the 1st generation ex and its more than likely to come with that ugly style side mirrors that came on most of them.
is it possible to upgrade from those to the ones on the 05 ex's as well as the grille?

i know this debate has been hashed out all day here, but which is better to hop-up from the 1st gen ex's my choices are the v10 or the 6.0 diesel,or the 7.3 diesel.....i'm not too keen on fuel consumption, but i'd like to do some towing with this truck.

The mirrors i believe are a direct swap. EBAY sells a 05 grille taht has been mofified to fit the 99-04 excursion. To properly do the swap you would need a new bumper and also headlights i believe. Headlight swap may be optional but the bumper would deffinatly have to be changed UNLESS you buy the one on ebay that has been altered to fit the older trucks.

See my gallery. My Ex is a 01 with a grill upgrade from EBAY. Costs about $300 US and you don't need to change bumper or headlights. 08 mirror kits are available and only need minimal wiring adaptation to work. I belileve WeekendWarrior has done this upgrade. If you have paddle mirrors like mine the tow mirror version is a direct swap. 7.3 would be your best bet followed by a V-10 like mine (10mpg). As was said stay away from the 6.0.
