Calling all arms...
I'm sensing some frustration from TigerDan, I think we need to plan a full day or so to lend him a hand and get this damned truck running on all fours.
I think we need to take a "Monster Grarage" approach, and just get busy, I had the easy part...waiting here and ther for this and that and bolting it on (BTW, should I have cleaned all those gasket surfaces?
...but you get my drift...the type of work Dan took on is really tough to do by yourself unless you're like me...but I digress...Sooooo...who's up for a road trip to Clearlake?
My plan will be to take the MH and park it at the Lake and leave the wife and kids while I get dirty and greasy with Dan.
Any other takers in the next week or so?
C'mon, now, we need to cut, grind and weld and just get this thing done and on the "offroad".
I need two guys/gals that can make it to Clear lake in the next week or two, and make this thing happen.
Are you in?
Maybe I could bring my motorhome down as well and fastmover and I can carpool?
Two questions.
Does TigerDan have a big enough air compressor to handle multiple air tools simultaineously? If so, I can bring some stuff with me. My compressor is stationary, so that doesn't work.
Where is Clear Lake?

I could bring my Motorhome as well or, sleeping bag and stay in someone else's Motorhome. If that was the case I'd be happy to split the cost. Staying at Konocti or the State Park for a day or two would be fun. I do not think I'll bring the wife this time however. She would be bored without me to b!tc# at all day. j/k about that part.
Just let me know ... for me, weekdays are actually better right now. However, this weekend or next is good as well. I just need to know so I can schedule around my home improvements, interviews, and such. End of the month looks bad for me .... Already booked with Nephews coming and HAN.
Extreme Truck Build Weekend .... I like the idea!
I have portable compressor and tools that I can bring. Not sure if I should bring my tools or not. I think Dan likes us to use the tools he has to keep things straight. I might bring mine as backup ...... just in case we need one tool that isn't available. The Motorhome has a complete portable set that goes with her everywhere so I wouldn't even have to pack those in.
The shop that the truck is in has allowed us to get just about any tool we need as long as we use it and put it back right after with Dan's assistance.
I even think they have a compressor. So, we might only have to bring guns and hoses etc.....Dan will have to clue us in on this one.

Next weekend (21-22) would be best for me also.
For myself, I am up to my elbows getting ready for speedweek, plus have several doctors appointments the next few weeks. I think my last one is the 24th, and I do not need to be in Wendover until the 5th. I can come up the 25th and spend several days before heading out for the Salt Flats.
Wish I could do more, but I have waited for months for one of the Doctor appointments.

Let's wait till Dan chimes in and lets us know what we shuold bring and when would be the best time.
AJ, during the week would work out well for me too, but I don't know if we could get access to the shop, unless Dan had a day off.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Fastmover - Maybe we can work something out with Dan.
However, it's looking like Sat 21 and Sun 22. Maybe you and I can get access with Dan and start Friday night?
Lastly, if there is a day or two between now and then we could make a long day of it and carpool / drive up our own econ car to help get it rolling. Wed or Thurday nights are set aside for working on our racecar so, for the next few week I could use that time to do something on the Project Truck. This is only because we are in the process of building the motor (800HP upgrade) and haven't decided on our cam set up just yet. Soon though, soon.
I think Dan's thoughts were to get the wheels on, perches in, then motor. I believe he is having or has a custom steering link arm being made. As to if there is anything more that we have to do by the end of Sun 22 I'm not sure. Dan will have to clue us in. Dan forgive me if I didn't get it right.
I not sure on this one: The thing I'm hearing from Clint in this thread is we have to get the truck out of the shop? Or, is it just that by putting wheels on it the shop owner will be happier so that he can move it around if he needs space etc...? Can you clear this up for me? Not, that it is my issue just wondering where we have to be with the truck. At one time I thought I read it might head down to your place 3Mike6.
BTW - I'm all set for HAN .... and posted in that thread if anyone is going. I do not see making speedweek ... but, if I'm not working and can figure it out last minute, I might go. That is of course, if I'm not on the job again by then. Have MH will travel. Looking at Cisco / Wamu now. It would be perfect to start working again mid Aug imo.

First of all, thanks guys...this is the sort of thing I've been wanting to have happen all along, it's what this whole project was supposed to be about: a bunch of guys getting together to build this truck.
I haven't been given an absolute deadline by which the truck must be out of the shop, just the sooner the better...
I've done some work on the swamp coolers in the shop so that it's bearable to work in, and there's no need to bring any large tools. If you're more comfortable using your own tools, by all means bring 'em, but the shop has a large air compressor and plenty of hoses, I have my portable Emglo for backup as well as torches (that reminds me...I have to get more o2) and I got the shop owner's wire welder working, so I don't need to drag my boss's big stick welder over to use any more.
I have enough room to park a couple of motorhomes around the house, and there's a county park and state park both fairly close to me on the lake, as well as a city park in Lakeport where the truck is (about 6 miles from my house).
I was making tentative plans to be out of town on the weekend of the 21st but since it seems to be the preferred weekend to make this happen, I'll cancel. Just found out I have to work some (at my regular job, that is) this weekend anyway.
Chet, since you're over by Sac, you'd be going pretty far out of your way to carpool with Karl. The best way to get here from there is to come up I-5 to hwy. 20 which comes right to Clear lake.
When the day approaches and we get a firm list of who'll be here, I'll email detailed travel instructions to those of you who haven't been here before.
Thanks again guys...this really should be fun!
You're in Livermore? If so, we're not too far away, I'm in Oakdale. If we take my Mom's MH, we'd want to leave early morning or evening, as the dash AC doesn't blow cold and if it's real hot, we could run the generator with the roof AC, but it doesn't keep you kool with all the blinds open for travel.
Either one we take, we can just split the fuel cost...unless you sleep in the buff, I'd prefer to just travel on my own

Other thought is maybe there's some cheap hotel rooms in the area, we can take up our comuter ride and not worry about getting the MH dirty. Maybe Dan can see if there's some cheap-ish rooms in the area with hot water

Other thought is if Dan want's me to bring up the engine and rearend, I'd have to take the pickup up, might only have access to the old deisel, no AC, no radio, no going over 60mph...but it rides nice

How cheap is cheap? I don't know what motel rooms go for around here lately, but I doubt any of them could be considered cheap. This is supposed to be some sort of resort area or something...ain't nothin' cheap here anymore...
I checked on the steering parts today. He's so busy he just can't find the time to work on them. I'll just go ahead and order the arm so that all he has to do is mill and drill the knuckle to fit.
There is three beds in my Motorhome for us but bringing the utility trailer would mean that I couldn't bring up the boat for evening ride on the lake. Let's see if we can't figure it all out.
The only thing I ask is that we take care of the motorhome so that the wife doesn't get upset. It's her second home. ;-)
Here's picts of the trailer, boat, and MH.

I just bought new wheels for the utility trailer too. I was tired of chasing the hub caps down the freeway. Lol !!!
Probably it would be best to stay at Knocti for the power and the ability to launch a boat.
If you guys want to share the gas it would help some.
Now, if you guys need a car hauler for the truck I am sure that Rick would let us use the Race car trailer that we have. He bought it out from me but, I still have rights. All we have to do is ask I think.
This is a picture of that:

BTW- That is the race car we are presently building the 800HP motor for. Rick also has a RS Camaro we are restoring with a custome 5spd and 350HP 327 for street use. We used the race car to test the drive train on the RS Camaro. Within the next year we should have them both complete.
However, if I remember correctly Dan has a car trail as well. That would save me the setting up the electric trailer brakes on the new motorhome. Or, I could just tow it behind my Pathfinder already set up. Lots to work with.
Mike you should PM me and we should make a cell call to see the best approach.

As I said, there's plenty of room to park a couple of motorhomes here at the house, and we can plug them in as well (no sewer hookups though...and you don't want to hook up to our water...
)The state park is nice though, and only 3-4 miles from he house. As for a boat, if we want to go that route I can snag my BIL's boat, he told me I could use it whenever I want after I did all that work on it just before the 4th.
