Brake Line Routing
I asked this question last year, and still haven't solved the problem.
Back in '97 I tore down my 68 F-250 and did a complete frame-off rebuild. In the process I replaced all of the brake lines as well as all of the other brake components except for the proportioning valve and the metering valve on the front disc brakes. I have an unbalanced brake system, I've tried balancing, bleeding, checking everything I can to solve the problem. The truck has always had outstanding stopping power with the front discs, and it is as though the front brakes are not working or working at greatly reduced power.
I need someone willing to TRACE the brake piping from the Master cylinder through the prop valve so I can verify the connections. I suspect the connections could be swapped, or the metering valve is not opening up.
Thanks for any assistance I can get, this forum is a great source of info!

The metering valve is located on the crossmember and according to the shop manual it holds off brake application of the front calipers until the M/C pressure reaches 120 PSI. This is to prevent the front brakes from doing all the work on low speed stops.
It is possible that the metering valve is not opening up, but since I had everything completely disassembled, I want to verify the connections are correct before I worry about possible bad components. As a side note, the brakes worked fine BEFORE the rebuild. I haven't driven this truck much at all, partly because of fuel prices but mostly because of the brake issue.
Thanks for the reply!

I don't know what this means for you and your truck. Maybe one of the smart guys will know what the metering valve does, or if it can be deleted.
