Well, I took some time after work and played around with the timing again. still smokes some but it runs and sounds great, Thins weekend I will be able to tell for sure, heading out camping in the high uinta mountains. Heading east on I-80 I have to climb parleys canyon (pretty long climb) so I will be able to see if things are right or not.

What the trick to get that thing to move. Messed around with mine, could only get it to move the width of two scribe lines, and that was with half the injector lines loose and a big ole wrench on it with lots of pressure. All 3 nuts were loose and the IP was visably loose.

I think those two marks worth were about what I needed. Less noise, still no smoke, only slight decrease in power.

I can't remember having one that would not move, but 2 scribe lines is a good start, I'd lock it down and try it there, Make sure you have adjustment left and don't try to force it, A broken pump is costly, Take the top nut all the way off and look and the hole in the pump where the stud comes through. Make sure you arn't all the way to one side or the other already.

Just a few tips on changing your timing.......( I am sure there are more that others will post)

1. most of you will fine a bolt hole on the side of the IP that is not being used.....take a long box end wrench with the proper threaded bolt and a flat washer and attach the boxed end of the wrench to the IP....(leverage bar)

2. before loosening the three nuts on the IP, loosen (just a few threads) as many injector lines at the back of the IP as you can...

3. loosen the three nuts on the IP and make your timing change......

4. tighten the three nuts and then tighten the injector lines back up..........

5. remove leverage bar......

I will put this in the glow plug thread as well.........
