Hi, I'm new to the diesel forums here.
my 99 f250 with 95k. keeps pushing coolant out the burp tank. i've replaced the thermostat and the water pump. the coolant looks good and no coolant in the oil.
when it happens the temp gage pegs hot and the upper radiator hose is cold then i crack the radiator cap and it get lots of air.
Any mods done to the engine? Seems unlikely that a stock motor with only 95K miles would pop an HG, but it would probably be worth your time to have the compression checked.....especially if it's been overheated a number of times.
could that be a stuck thermostat? With the upper radiator return hose cold, that would tell me that the hot coolant is not getting circulated. Thermostat should be a cheap and easy fix, plus you can always check to see how the old thermostat works on the kitchen stive, unless it's obviously stuck partially open. Gone through my fair share of thermostat's (not on my PSD, an old subaru) Good luck! I would think if you had a bad head gasket you would start seeing water in the oil. Had that happen twice as well (Subaru again) hmmmmmmm . . . Maybe that boxer engine isn't so great after all?
well it has turn for the wost, i replaced the lower radiator, start up the truck idling it start blowing smoke and making all kinds of noise. and now the water has a lot of oil in it .........
