I second that. Do you wanna have a bunch of dead beat teenagers tryin to lower your rig and put unpainted body panels on the underside of it for "better aerodynamics" lol. Straight pipe it and let your pipes do the talkin

Besides sound, what else will the BOV accomplish in our case?

not a ricer valve. i don't know that a blow off valve will do any good when you have a wastegate....

Not technically a "ricer valve". Even mustangs and turbocharged buicks, anything with a throttle plate "needs" them. See, diesel engines lack a throttle plate, they are throttled by fuel, not air. The only thing a blow off valve will do when it activates is make a sound. I'm not sure it would make too much of a sound anyway as pressure isnt really forced out of it like it is in a gasser. You let off of the throttle, but your engine is still turning and there is no inlet restriction, the air at boost just keeps flowing into the engine, thats it. Maybe a small amount will creep out backwards through the turbocharger but the blowoff valve on these engines is not needed.

Strokin'_tatsch, the wastegate has nothing to do with needing a blow off valve. Looks like you need to read up on some Turbo Tech 101.

Hence the question, "What, besides sound, will it accomplish in our case?

It might prevent your airfilter from popping off when you have a hick-up/backfire or keep the turbo from stalling.......if thats even possible.

Well if something like that were to happen I am pretty sure the airfilter popping off is the least of your worries.

And no, I have never heard of that happening but hey at least the Bov would make a cool sound while its happening lol. Anyways does the turbo on the 7.3 ever really overboost?

Just put a 6637 on and enjoy the PPSSSSSSSSSSS between gears. That and the added whistle is much less trouble, more practical, and sounds as good if not cooler because they (ricers) can't make that sound...
