What's the school of thought on changing the oil after the first 1000 miles to remove any particles from the manufacturing process? Does this really help?

Most people will say it is unnecessary on a new factory engine, but I did mine at 500 miles and then I got my free oil change from the dealer at 2500 miles. My truck has 12K miles on it and I haven't gone over 2500 miles between oil changes yet.Mostly because I get bored and don't feel like waiting until 3k miles to change it. Excessive?? maybe but it isn't hurting anything.
I changed mine at a 1000 miles. I figure, what the heck, it is cheap insurance. I also figured that the truck has set on the lot for at least a couple months also. I then change mine at 3000 miles where alot of people wait to 5000 miles. I guess it's all in what you are used to doing.
Good luck with that filter because it's a BEAR!!! There have been several posts about how's the easiest way to remove it is. Do a search and you should find it.
Yeah I also did my first oil change at 1,000 miles. And the filter was way too tight
The Factory filter is installed by a robot arm and it has been reported that they go on DRY.... hence the reason it is a bear to get off for the first time..
I did the my first oil change at 1,000 miles as well, that is when I went to the Napa Gold (WIX) oil filter, I also purchased Napa's oil filter "cup" which attaches to your 3/8" ratchet. I do my oil changes every 4,000 now and it is quite easy using the oil filter "cup" and 3/8" ratchet.
One thing Ford engineers did that was a nice pleasant surprise is they installed a plastic oil deflector. So when you remove the filter the oil doesn't drop down onto the axle housing making a mess.... You make your own mess when you don't use an oil pan that is wide enough to accommodate both drip points of that plastic deflector...
