Guys, on this truck I bought to fix and sell, (flip truck) I found an oil leak coming from the EBPV rod hole. And it's pretty major. So my question is this..... Can I take the rod and plunger out with the turbo on the truck and re- oring it? What are your suggestions? I'm looking for an answer that I don't have to remove the turbo. Let me know what you think.
Yes, you can just remove it and plug the holes. It's there to aid in warmup but I doubt you'll need it in Texas. Problem is where's all that oil coming from.
U.P. Yeah, warm up is not an issue here. The oil is coming from the rod hole. What size would a thread plug be? And what size tap? Welding the hole closed would be easy, but I don't have a machine that will weld aluminum.
Glide, your right. I need some input from Reverend Slither.
Cody the way mine is done it would require removing the turbo. jamming a pipe plug in there is a good option but I am not sure if it can be done with the pedestal in the truck. Check my webshots in the turbo album to see pics of my modded pedestal. sorry I am not more help.
Yeah Tim, I was thinking you had one of those pedistals Rick modified. Is that correct? I'm actually gonna get him to do one of mine. And hey, you can't win them all!!!
Jake, that's what I needed to know, thanks brother. Now I just need a tap size.....but I can figure it out. Did you use any teflon tape, or just let the pipe tap do it's job?
i used a 1/4npt tap and some loctite thread sealer and it never leaked, i just modded a superduty pedistal man thoose suck to do, the obs ones are much easier. if you do it yourself i would degrease the snot out before even trying to do it.
