Keys
To all,
I deeply apologize that the information I received was incorrect. I in no way want to get bad info or send it. I just bought my truck 2 weeks ago and know pretty much zilch about my awesome truck, I have read a lot of folks only getting 1 key and the second is costly. I do not know why for sure, and do not care either but it is just from what I have been told and I have learned it is bad information. but came here to learn,, not to be offensive or get offended.
I can learn more here by just reading comments and my owners manual than making comments. Again I am old but am man enough to apologize and I really like my Ford Truck and hope to learn a lot on this site
I will let the Auto Zone man know he is full of bad information and then just go get a key made and be done with it.

Often times a locksmith "clones" your initial key, and does not program it as a 2nd key. This matters because your current key and a cloned key will not work to program a 3rd key, the truck has to see two different keys to go into program mode.
I have done remote starts for years, and I use a blank pats key for a bypass, as the newer hardwired bypass units cost more and in my experience don't work as well. The blank I use for a remote start is programmed using two current keys, but not cut so its safe to leave in the truck, can't be used to drive, but could always be cut later if needed for some reason.

Can you imagine the CHAOS involved in a finance company having to manage KEYS for every vehicle they finance? It would be insanely expensive and highly prone to error - and it would take eons to get the "key" to the REPO guy on the street who is going to go pick it up.
In Florida, we don't even get "paper" titles any more.. They are electronic - and you have to pay to get an actual copy to put in your safe-deposit box along with your other important papers..
