Won't hurt a thing, but the engine will seem louder IMO. Simple Green cleaner and a power washer should get it cleaned up pretty good though. It'll smell good too
You can even replace it if you want. The major part stores should carry the insulation or you can even get it on line. I'm thinking about doing it myself. Mine is starting to come apart. good luck
I've seen some with and some without...aside from noise suppression...what's the point?...Actually...I can barely here myself think as it is....can't imagine it would make that much of a difference....and...who doesn't love the sould for the PSD...I LOVE IT!!!
I was more worried about heat or something like that
I gutted my hood out just a couple months ago, haven't looked back yet. I really didnt notice any real diffrence in sound to be honest. Of course a set of injectors and custom fuel supply system helps quite the old clunky thing down emensouly.
Well I removed it last night...MAN...I don't think I could of cleaned it if I tried...It is soooo dirty...crusted with dirt, oily residue....and the stink of all that is probably what made my truck smell bad.
On the drive in to work this morning, I didn't notice any noise difference....keep in mind that my set-up I have is kinda lound....but aything that amplifies that sweet, sweet turbo sound is OK in my book....and BONUS....I can't hear my wife talk to me when I drive. hahahah
