ok i have 2 f150 4x4's, one 77 and one 79, i believe the 77 was a late 77 with the same "y" link steering like the 78 and 79 and not the old "t" style. both of the steering boxes are the exact same look the same and will bolt up to either truck. my problem is that the 77 box has "RF-D6TW-3550-AA" and the 79 box has "RF-D7TC-3550-CA" stamped in to the back side of the box. i was wanting to use the sector shaft off of one and put in the other but was not sure if there was a difference in the boxes internally. If any is any one who can help me decifer these part #'s and let me know id really appreciate it. i also cannot get the lock nut and nut off of the top part to get the worm gear out off the housing to replace the seal and dust cap. it looks like i need a 4 pronged tool maybe to get this out??? the instructions i recieved with the seal kit are kinda vague... i guess i just need a little help!! thanks.
ok mil1ion i got your spa numbers. on the 77 the number is SPA BT and below it is 78A 31B. the 79 tag is SPA AX and below it says 76E 17B. the tags were kinda dirty so i hope that they are accurate.
Yes that would be great. I might just use the right sectors back. I think the reason it was leaking in the first place is that my uncle (p. O.) put the inner seal and washer in backwards on the lower unit.
thats great! thanks for the help. does anyone know how to get the lock nut and nut off of the housing to get the work gear out of the upper housing to replace the seal and dust cap on the input side?
