Smile Steering box ID

Hello everyone!

I have a 1978 F150 4x4 with a steering box that has the following #RF-D7T0-3550-0A.

All of my searching and digging through my parts books show D7TZ-3504-G or D9TZ-3504-B

Does anyone have any experience with a steering box RF-D7T0-3550-0A?

Thanks in advance!!

Is that a casting number by any chance?
Ford steering boxes are identified by the number stamped on a metal tag that is held on by one of the cover bolts. It would have a code like SPA-BT or DATA-GA.
Is it manual or power steering?
If the box is worn out, seriously consider Redhead steering in Washington. They are competitive with the chain store "rebuilts" and actually rebuild the box, correcting some design flaws, unlike the chain stores that are just resealed.
They can send you one from stock or you can send them yours and they'll rebuild it.
That's a Redhead box in the picture.

I have the same box that your's came with, no metal tag left as I now have a Red Head Steering box .... and what a blessing it's been. Finally took the plunge with a group buy on this forum a couple years ago.

My metal tag has
SPA BT
77K 210 or 77K 21C

I have read awesome things about the redhead boxes. I jest was researching to see if they offered a replacement for mine.

You shouldn't have any problem with Redhead having a replacement.
Box ID SPA-BT
Fits:
77-78 F150 4WD w/ power steering from s/n Y20,001-CE0,001
Part number D7TZ-3504-G replaced by D9TZ-3504-B in April 1980.
