I have a 99 F-350 crew cab long box dually with 7.3. I am using the Superchips programmer. In the tow performance mode I am averageing about 13mpg doing all types of driving. In the tow safe mode towing a 30ft 5th wheel I am getting about 11mpg. Should I be doing better?
I'm sure others will chime in, but I'm thinking that's about right for a dually with an auto trans. After I switched from the Superchips to the DP Tuner, My milage got better. For the first tank anyway. Now I can't keep my foot out of it. Better milage don't mean crap when you end up havin to pay the county for the moving violations.
i get a solid 17 mpg in mine with the superchips on Hi Perf mode. I run 265 BFG's. Single rear wheel. It does sound a little low, but if you have a heavy foot.....
I know mine is 4:10. I spoke to a guy at a campground last year with the same rig and he changed his to 3:73. Said his mpg went up 1-2mpg towing a 5er back and forth from Maine to FL. I thought about it, but I dont want to give up the power..

Sounds about right! None of my Tuners/Chips I've ever had ever increased my Fuel mileage. My 01 7.3 will get 15.1 without the Hypertech or DP Tuner and 14.4 with them.
