Using Superchips Hi-Perf Tuning While Hauling?
I have an 00 F250 7.3 6spd manual that is hauling a Lance cabover camper that weighs about 3200 lb total wt.
Just got a Superchips tuner. The manual says you shouldn't use the Hi-Perf mode, but rather the midrange Perf-Tow mode when you're towing.
I had a diesel mechanic tell me that I could use the Hi-Perf mode if I watch my pyrometer gauge and back off if the egt gets too high.
What do you think? Any experiences to share?

If you have an exhaust system and intake system it will help lower exhaust gas temps. Keep it under 1250 if you pyrometer probe is pre-turbo, under 900 if its post turbo. 3200 lbs isn't much weight and isn't likely to spike EGTs too high.
