If you're running the T-98 four-speed, and looking to swap to a Y-block, I have the bellhousing you need. I'm looking to get rid of it so I can run a 3-speed behind mine.
no.you are incorrect. the t98 has one boltpattern. the only difference between the 292 and 223 is the bellhousing to engine bolt pattern. you can take a t98 from a 223 and bolt it up to the 292 bellhousing. from my understanding the two uppper bolt holes are farther apart.and i think the 292 bellhousing has 8 bolt holes where the 223 has 5 or 6. tryn to remember. brain never works when ya want it too.
You're correct, 64fordf100292. The difference between the two bell-housings is for the Y-Block, the top two bolts are spaced 7 5/8" apart and for the 223 I6 the top two bolts are spaced only 5 5/8" apart. The transmission itself remained unchanged but the bell-housings were different to accommodate different engines.
No, he's not correct, because he didn't answer the original question: he answered his own.
The original question:
Does the y-block and the 223 i6 have the same bellhouseing bolt pat.?
The question here has to do with the BELLHOUSING pattern, not the transmission pattern.
The answer to the question was:
Nope. I believe the difference is the spacing between the top two bolts.
This is a correct statement, as is the subsequent one regarding the I6 having a narrower pattern between the top to bolts.
The statement:
no.you are incorrect. the t98 has one boltpattern.
Is true as a fact, but incorrect as an answer to the question, because the original question had to do with the BELLHOUSING bolt pattern, not the T 98 BOLT PATTERN
It was clear from the original question that factory594x4 wants to take his I6 T 98 and bellhousing and bolt it up to his Y Block, and he can't do it, because the bellhousing pattern is different. He was asking about the difference between Y Block and I6 bellhousing patterns, not T 98 patterns.

Wow. Sorry I tried!
BTW, your people skills could use some work, A-hole!
The BELLHOUSING pattern, as I stated, is different for Y-block to I6. AS I STATED. What makes them easily distinguishable is the top two bolt holes on the BELLHOUSING. On the I6, the spacing is 5 5/8" and on the Y-block, the spacing is 7 5/8". The T-98 will fit both BELLHOUSINGS but, OBVIOUSLY, the BELLHOUSINGS aren't interchangeable for the two different engines. Everybody else got that, right? Everybody else but wild.bunch has at least MINIMUM reading comprehension skills, right? GEEEZ!!!
