well i finally figured out how im gonna do this. i found some mustang shorty headers $99. which are gonna go to hollowed out cats and then to a flowmaster on each side. then i'm gonna put them out right before the back tire. as for the air pump father flanagan, did u just get a new belt to take that out of the whole rotation. if u could tell me which belt it is i would appreciate it. if this all works how i think it will, i should have some big performance gains.
I was looking at getting a shorter belt and taking the air pump out of the picture, but I dont think I can reroute it there because of the tensioner. I would like to get rid of it, but havent had time to look real well.
You can get an AC elimination pulley from Ford Motorsports that will bolt right up to your engine, and eliminate the air pump. I have one on my Bronco, and I can still use the stock belt.
Don't expect quantum leaps in performance by going to duals. You will notice an improvement, but you still have a heavy vehicle trying to be propelled by a small block engine.
Where there is a will there is a way. You need to find a mechanic/pipe bender with a little imagination.I replaced my cracked exhaust manifolds with svo stainless shorty truck headers. They were cheaper than oem manifolds. These will hook up to oem exhaust, from there we added an ultra-flo stainless with a 3" inlet and 2 - 21/2" outlets. The rest is 21/2" stainless duels with exits on both sides behind the tires like original. This only requires one cat and muffler. We used stainless bands and clamps and even made new hangers out of stainless. Don't skimp on the hangers, this muffler is heavy. This set-up is on an 89 full size 5.0. The sound is mellow but not obnoxious. I've had this set-up for at least 4 yrs now and probably 100,000 miles or more --- no problems except for header gaskets maybe every 2 yrs.Which brings up another problem. Does anyone know who stocks svo parts? I need an other set of header gaskets. Summit says they won't have any until the middle of June. My local dealer who always has gotten svo parts for me has gone soft in the head and either can't or won't find me any (good help is hard to find). Hope this helps. Can anyone help me?

Father Flanagan...You can use the AC elimination pulley in place of your air pump, and keep the AC. I've had mine on for 20,000 miles and no problems yet. I will have to look the part number up. I'll keep you posted.
