I don't have either so I can't really comment on them, but I do have the Kenwood navigation system which is an add on box that I believe is flash based. It also has an SD card slot to load updates to the software and maps/POIs. I am very happy with this system so far, (had it 3 months). I haven't tried updating anything yet so I'm not sure how easy that is, but I think it will be pretty simple.
Yep, that's what I have. There are pictures of my install in my gallery. If I was doing it again now I think I would go with the 7019 over the 6019 as it has a few new features that would be nice to have, but I bought mine over a year ago when the 6019 first came out. The bluetooth car kit is also pretty nice, but I am having issues with it right now. I can't get my phone to pair with it, but I'm not sure if it's an issue with my phone or the unit and I haven't had enough time to mess with it yet.
I have the Eclipse AVN5495 with a hard drive and I've had no problems and I'm pushing 300w to my sub. The HD nav maps out routes much quicker than a dvd based nav & it will recalculate a route if you miss a turn instantly. The main reason I went with the HD is the ability to store 3,000 songs on it.
if you get a unit with a dvd drive you may not be able to play dvd's and do the nav at the same time the only exception to this if the unit has 2 dvd drives one for the nav dvd and another for the movies. the hard drive you should be able to do both. Of course this would probalby only be a issure if you had more than one tv screen.
