I really didn't like the CD nav system in the 03Expy, so I got the rear dvd system....
Now, I want to swap out my stock 2DIN 6cd stereo with a new DVD Nav AV head unit.
What I WANT to do is drive the rear DVD screen with the DVD feed from the new head unit.

The question... does anyone know if the stock DVD system has a video input under the shell so I can play the DVD from the new unit and send video to the back unit too?

I also really like the dual play feature in the existing unit.. I hope I can somehow keep that...

 

that is a great question you have. i ave an 03 eb i felt that the factory nav was behind the times so i also just got the rear dvd. i installed the kenwood 911 dvd in the fron and can watch what is playing on the rear dvd on the kenwood and what is playing on the kenwood on the rear dvd. from what i know coming out of the rear dvd play are audio and video rca's they are located somewhere underneath the centerconsole. all that needs to be done is u need to form a so called loop inserting the new headunit in the middle. so the factoy dvd goes into the new headunit and then the new headunit goes to the factory dvd. all works great. the wireless headphones still work as well.

Did you do the install yourself? Where exactly are the necessary connections? Are there any connections on the rear DVD unit, or are the located in the center floor console?

no i had someone do it but i helped. the wires run under the center console. u have to convert them to rca'a i was there this morning have somemore stuff done and asked. where are you located perhaps you can go to my shop and have them do it and there is nothing at the dvd player itself except factory plugs
