I have a 2002 PSD. Where is a good spot to put a temp. sensor for engine. Also a good spot for tranny (it does have a spot in the tranny pan which is a Mag-Hytec; will that give a good reading or should I go to some other place?)
But, there is also a plug on the oil filter houing that may be a better spot if you're not running a bypass filter like I am.
Edit: Gene's picture that he referenced is the one I'm referring to. I think it get's a better flow of oil for a more accurate and current reading.

Thanks for the help on the engine temp. Now how about where to sense the tranny temp. As I stated above there is a plug in the pan (MAG-HYTEC PAN) or is there a better spot to get an accurate reading?

We have the same truck LOL
I installed the oil temp sender using one of the ports next to the oil filter housing, there are two ports plugged.(these are used by the guys running the OIL GUARD system) I installed the trans temp sender on the designated MAG HYTEC tranny pan.
good luck!
I have a 2000 F250, I removed the pan, drilled hole and tig welded a bung in with a 1/4 NPT. I dont think I could get a more accurate reading than were its at. The plus side, I chagend the tranny filter and it need an oil change anyway, I average 195-200* pulling 10,000 lb toy hauler!
