Will the icp sensor keep a truck from running? The reason i ask is that i unpluged the sensor and there is oil inside the female end of the sensor. Thats why i think the sensor might be bad cause oil getting in it from the inside out. Just a thought.
Good indicator of a bad sensor. Mine did the same thing cause my truck through a 1211 code and replaced the sensor and haven't had it again. i had oil coming through the plug on mine also.
If its leaking replace it, a leaking ICP sensor should only cuase the truck to run rough though, usually the truck will still start. I suppose you found out it was leaking after the fact the truck would not start, probably pulling pigtails to do a visual inspection, so.... there may be other reasons the truck will not start such as the CPS sensor that is notoriuos for failing on these engine. I would start by replacing the ICP sensor (cause its leaking and will cause the truck to run rough) just incase that is the problem then work on getting codes pulled to see if the CPS failed on ya.
Yes the truck will start sometimes. When it doesnt while cranking the tach is moving. The only code is pcm kam test error. Whatever that means. Any ideas would be great, I think i am working on a lemon. The truck is a early 99.
You should replace a leaking ICP regardless. Pick on up on Ebay for about $50. Much cheaper than anywhere else. That's where I got mine and it came brand new in the Ford packaging. Just don't be surprised if it looks slightly different than the one currently on your truck. Ford changed the design of the sensor a bit.
Now the ICP can still be working. Mine was leaking a few months ago but never once gave me any trouble. You can test it out by unplugging the electrical connector. Without the ICP the PCM will go into a default mode. If your truck runs better with the ICP unplugged, then you definately have a bad sensor.
As for the KAM code that you scanned. Do you have a tuner? If so that is normal.
The truck does not have a programmer or anything else right now. It did have a edge on it but was removed thinking it might have been the trouble of the truck not starting all the time. I think when i get off tonight i am going to hook up a fuel pressure guage to see if when it dies again to see if it loses press. If i can get to die again, cause right now i cant. The cps was changed about a year ago but i know that doesn't mean anything, thanks for all the help.
