questions about icp sensor

hey guys, had a couple questions for ya, ever since i got my truck i have had a very slight hesitation at cruising speed only at a certain rpm, well i got my oasis report and saw that the icp sensor was replaced in 04 due to these symptons, so i figured that it didnt fix the problem. well my truck doesnt do the hesitation anymore it is pretty smooth actually but i noticed the truck is just a little bit slower than it was. i pulled the connector off the icp when the truck was running and there was absolutley no change in how it idled ( should there be) and there was also oil inside the connector... is it possible my icp sensor was bad all along and it just finally went?

If there is oil in it, it does need replacement..Un plugging the ICP is a form of troubleshooting, but if I remeber correctly, if you truck shuts down while driving, you then unplug the ICP, if it starts and idles, plug it back in and try again, if it doesnt start, bad ICP.. but oil in the ICP mean replace..Good Luck

How much oil in the plug?

Usually a faulty ICP sensor will cause some idle issue and unplugging it while running will smooth things out. If you didn't notice any change, your ICP may still be working fine.

Sorry, should have been more clear. It can cause more than only idle issues, but it will also usually cause a rough idle along with other symptoms.

I had an ICP sensor that had a small amount of oil in it for quite some time. Never could find anything wrong with it according to the scanner while watching live data. I decided to swap it out one day and see if the new sensor made any difference to the pressure readings or fluctuations.

There were none. If you've only got a little bit of oil in the plug, and no other symptoms pointing to an ICP issue, I'd leave it alone. Just keep an eye on it in case it gets worse.

You can unplug the icp sensor all day and not kill the truck. It will default to settings in the PCM. You can not unplug the IPR...

Unless it's sticking. If you can ever unplug the IPR and the truck does not die, you need to change you're IPR.

Not very common, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Otherwise Joe is right. 99% of the time you can't unplug the IPR and have your truck stay running.
