Does the towing mirror fold forward?

I have a 2001 F250 with towing mirrors. I just bought a Pace-Edwards Full Metal Jackrabbit from the nearest dealer, 1.5 hours away. When I opened it up, he had given me the regular, vinyl, Jackrabbit (about half of the cost). Well, I was upset and when I backed out of the garage, I caught my driver's side mirror on the wall. The towing mirror moved forward and I thought that I had ripped it out of the door. However, upon inspection, it looked like I only cracked the plastic cover at the base. Have I done more damage and does the entire mirror need to be replaced? The mirror moves when commanded electrically and it seems to be strongly attached.

They aren't designed too, but they should have some give to it. If it doesn't shake while driving, I'd suspect the hindges and mount were ok. It's doubtful you harmed the electronics, so you may just have cosmetic damage.

Towing mirrors on 2002 and up trucks do fold forward. I put a set on my Superduty
for a 99-01 and bent one the wrong way backing up! I went out and bought a set for
a 2002 and I will not have that problem again!
