I have an 88 Ford E350 with a 5.8L Windsor fuel injected engine.
The idle is very erratic. Just recently, the check engine light started to come on. It will jump in revs to about 2500 or 3000 or so, and idle back down somewhat. Most of the time when it returns to an idle it skips some and lobs at an idle. The check engine light is new.
Any way to read codes on it without a code reader, and look them up in a book or something? Or is there only one component that could POSSIBLY be the problem and I should replace immediatley?
