hello everyone, i'm getting ready for the 460 swap but i need a few things(always). i placed a want ad for oilpan and pickup but i have a question. i was looking through a catalog and there was a few different pans. since they never put a 460 in a 4x4 how do i know which one will fit? is this a part i can pick up at the local parts house? i have the DIVE block going in my 79 f250. oil pump is the same correct? motor was redun about 10,000 ago and has good pressure so i don't think i need a new pump. thanks many more questions to come.
thanx everyone. i saw the one in summit and that's what got me wondering. i guess i'll call ford and see how much the new setup will cost. and wait to see if any of my want ads are going to pay off.
what about the dipstick hole in the timing chain cover? did the vans have one without the hole? my friend has done the swap and he just plugged the hole. it works fine i was just curious.
hey 79 ranger, did it fit?
Yep, my pan fits good. It came in a motorcraft racing box. I had to bend the dipstick tube a bit to fit with my headers, but it all works well.
I just alumiumn welded the hole in the timing cover and ground it smooth, can't even tell their was a dipstick hole there.
