I have a 6.0 cooler and piping all I need is the intake spyder or "Y". I'm having trouble finding a early 99 one. Will a late 99-02 work if I just use step down couplers from the "Y" to the intakes? How much of a step down is it?
Nope, you have to have an early 99 intake syder for this mod. You have to use step down couplers with the early 99 spyder too (which are expensive). Luckily, I got one of the last few that dieselsite had. Those couplers go from 2 3/8" to 2" on the intake.
There used to be a kit that you could get but I don't think that gentleman is around anymore.
Every once in a while there is an early 99 spyder on Ebay. Good luck.
the late 99 and later y-pipes have a different connection size at the turbo itself. thats the main issue with them. the early 99 y-pipes like has been said are no longer being made. so Rubberduck got very lucky as when I was looking for one I had my friend ford parts counter to a search and only 2 dealerships in the nation had any. they were both in texas and I called one and can't remember if they had them or not but either way I think I was too cheap and didn't want to pay that much. So m guess is that Cody just happen to find the right dealer
ebay has them everynow and again but everyone and their brother is looking for one so they don't last long. your stock y-pipe can be modified pretty easily if you can weld or know somebody who can weld. I have seen pics somewhere but I can't seem to find the link. I have posted it before but I will try to find it soon.
and here is what the creator of that y-pipe has to say about it.
"i've had several pm's asking how i built my spider, i have returned there pm's and am also posting it here so all can see. so here it is. it's actually quite simple. i cut the flange off from the stock pipe, then i cut the top off of the "Y". i flipped the "Y" around, so that the drivers side outlet is now on the passenger side and vise-versa. on top of this is a 3" 90* elbow that i sliced a bit off to get the angle that i wanted. for the hot side i just found a piece of pipe at the local napa that the factory flange would slide into. i cut a bit off from it to shortin it up a bit then using a couple of reducer's (flipped around) i got it up to 3". make sure the "Y" section is mounted on the truck and the hot side is mounted on the truck before welding the two together to make sure that they are positioned correctly. just tack them, then take them off and weld up them up good. i'm sure that you could do it with out welding the hot and cold sides together, but i wanted to. i figured it would help keep from blowing the boots off. ya might wanta slide down to the local exhaust shop and ask if ya can scavenge(sp) there scrap bin's for short chunks of exhaust pipe. i've done that a couple times for projects like this. good luck and if ya have any more questions feel free to ask."
Cody, come on you just had to do that to me didn't ya! ok let see if I can make other jealous too!
used banks y-pipe for $50. if it makes you feel any better its still not installed! I finally got my hand on the headlight, turn signal housings and corner lights I wanted so once they are delievered I can get them installed. Oh along with my new 5 inch turn out stacks.

Oh that's it, tj, just rub it in some more. Do you need any salt to pour into our open wounds while your at it.........LOL
OH........One day, I'll have and intercooler...................after I rebuild the hydarulic controls and pump on the loader/backhoe, put new disk and bearings on the harrow, put a new clutch in the tractor, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on..and on....and on...and on........
fly me to georgia and I will help you with The loader, split the tractor for you (only if it doesn'y have a cab!) and rebuild your disk for you! Sounds like a good vacation for my family! that way you can get you IC in and I can make it up to you having to rub it in.
HA! I GOT YA! I got all my 4" 90* and 45* bends FREE!!!! Kinda.......we'll just leave it at that. What kind of turnouts did you get? Bullhaullers, Squared 45*, or rounded? Ah I do love some stacks. You have mail.
Free elbows! there we are even now! even 4" were $25-30 a piece. The stacks I got are I think you would call them squared 45*. Now that I have secured my source for stacks I can give out links so here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2022118&rd=1,1
We now have the exact same stacks........scary. I got mine from the chromeroom people too. Man, I don't think we should ever meet. Our luck we would be twins from some crazy family.
Or twins from an alternate universe. And if you touched, you would cancel each other out. We can't have that, then we would be down two of the best minds on here.
I know, Bad Plowhand!!, no more late night TV, been watching too much sci-fi latey!!
