Intercooler spyder "y" pipe ques

I see everyone one here is saying I need the early 99 spyder pipe part #F81Z6K889BA to install an intercooler on my 97 ps. But If I change my intake manifolds to the 00+ 3" diameter can I use the other spyder pipe? 00+ style? or do I still use the early 99 pipe? thanx in advance guys!

Yes if you upgrade the intake manifolds to the 00+ SD pleneums then you can use the 00' SD y-pipe. I cant remember if the 00' were 2.5'' or 3'', 3'' dosn't sound right, but its been awhile.

NO! Changing the intake plenums doesn't make any difference. The 99.5 thru 03 intake spyder will not fit the OBS turbo.

I'm with him Rodney.
The early '99 spyder will fit the OBS turbo and small OBS intake plenums.
But the '99.5 to '03 spyder fits the larger turbo mouth for the '99.5 - '03 turbos as well as the larger 3" intakes.

I don't think that was the real question though Jim. I'm assuming he found a late 99 spyder and wants to know if just changing intakes will allow him to use it to intercool his 97. Again, I'm assuming that he doesn't know that the turbos are different and that in order to use the late spyder he will have to use the SD turbo and pedestal.

No blue mule, I did not know the turbo was different, I thought the different spyder corresponded to the manifolds not the turbo. But I will use an early spyder pipe with the later manifolds. Rep points awarded thanx buddy

you will have to get custom adapters to use the early spyder on late manifolds. the late manifolds are 3 inch while the early 99 uses our stock 21/4's
