I have a 99 ford ranger 2wd. I changed the abs sensor, which turned off the abs warning light, but my speedometer quit working and my check engine light came on. Any suggestions on what happened?
Seeing as how the speed-o uses the rear ABS speed sensor out put to function, I'd suspect the speed sensors electrical connection, or maybe it's gone belly up!!!! Just because it's new, doesn't automatically mean it gets a pass.

Agreed, they call it an ABS sensor, but it's signal is referenced for a bunch of stuff. There may be a lead in the plug for the ABS system and a lead for the PCM. Check and clean the connector.
