Hate to bring up an old question, but can someone tell me what there exhaust sounds like if you have the flowmaster cat back kit that is optional out the sides or straight out the rear, My nieghbor has the same kit Im reffering to and his come out the sides,His sounds good but I dont know what it would sound like Straight out. I am really a fan of bringing the pipes straight out, I think it looks cooler. Any opinions good or bad I would appreciate it, I have an 06 Scab 5.4, Thanks. Steve
Sorry for being so late with my reply, I been to busy with work and kids, Are the flowmasters really louder than the magnaflows ?? its hard to tell from the audio clips, Thanks for the responses !
I dont think there that much louder as I have owned both, but to me I like the raspyness of the Flowmaster better.
The flowmaster is a little louder at cruising speeds, but nothing obnoctious, if you like the flowmaster sound better, and want a quiter interior noise, go with a delta flow instead of street and strip.
You honestly cant tell jack from audio clips. Everyone has a different set of speakers, different drivers, different OS, different sound card, different settings, etc. What might sound great on one computer may sound like crap on another with the same clip. And audio files can be manipulated many ways by the person making them.
Good point Homer. If you like the duals out the back, its not really an issue to the driver much, its what does it sound like outside. The Flowmaster system is definately louder IMO. You're original q about side exhaust... I assume you will drive the truck in winter, the cat and rich fuel mixture of cold weather will spew an acid that will turn your rear wheel green if the exit is in front of the rear wheel. Ford recalled and changed the 97 exhaust for this reason. You can buy the Harley exhaust from Ford racing for a semi reasonable price. Corsa makes a nice system visually with some different tip options, oval, square, double etc. With Corsa you are also paying a little premium for their muffler design which includes no wool packing and has multiple walls internally that they claim to allow better flow with less restriction with a noise level comparable to magnaflow and flowmaster. They claim better horsepower gain. We have sold a few, the tip construction and visuals are supberb. We have installed 30 or 40 Magnaflow systems on new body style F150 with zero combacks or defects. MBRP has launched a new series for gas engines and if they work anything like the diesel systems thats another option to consider. IMO Magnaflow if pricing is a consideration, Corsa if the tip styles appeal to you and HP is a factor, the factory (ford racing) system if you have blue blood and MBRP if you want to be unique and have the latest. Sheesh that was a long answer huh
Sorry for the late response but I think I will go with the rear exit, Just seems like a good option for me, Great responses, Thx, Not sure about magnaflow or the Flowmasters yet though, Tuff decision, Cause I Have to live with it,
