If i cut out the stock exhaust on my truck and put in a glass pack in replacement of the muffler and ran just straight pipes would it sound good or would it sound like i junk truck rolling down the road ? i have 2003 f-150 with the 5.4 in it
Not necessarily, but if you "cut out the stock exhaust" components called catalytic converters & O2 sensors, in a costly quest to "sound good" you increase the odds....

Quite often the "deffinition of sound good" just ends up meaning louder. W/the name trainhorntruck can we guess you're of the louder is better clan? Search FTE, this is a common topic, w/lively debate on whether you can get "good sound" w/all 4 cats in place.
My folks just reported a very loud pickup that roars by their home twice a day & is heard for miles. No doubt the owner believes his "junk truck...sound(s) good". They don't. Since he keeps a regular schedule it'll likely be the police who decide. The "deffinition of sound good" may be Judge Judy's.
By all means, try BURNSTOUGHFORD's advice & "seach you tube and see whats on there". Download the audio to ipod & burst those ear buds.

haha ya I like loud things like my train horn and i will thank you
My 01 screw 5.4 I have just the muffler cut and replaced with a stright pipe and the stock cat back. Sounds pretty good has that nice rumble. The 5.4 and the 4.6 all sound this way. I've tried putting on a flowmaster and its not loud enough. You would have to remove the cats and that's not a good idea.
was yours cats then ypipe to flowmaster and single outlet or dual i wonder if it changes sound tones single out or dual , i have a muffler project coming up

No I had the flowmaster installed in the same location as the stock muffler and then the y into duals. But the welds kept breaking that hold the duals up and they were always dangeling down...so I had the muff shop chop off the duals and put back on a single with a 3" tip. And honestly there wasent that much of a difference in sound for the money they cost. There over rated IMO
