MBRP cat vs. delete pipe sound difference

I've got the MBRP 4" turbo-back exhaust that I've run for many years with the cat in place. Recently I've given thought to installing MBRP's cat delete pipe but am curious about the performance and sound that change would bring about.

First, would the removal of the cat noticeably affect the truck's torque?

Secondly, and probably most importantly, what kind of noise change will this bring about? I run MBRP's muffler in the 4" system and have been pleased with the slight rumble it gives, but wouldn't mind a little more exhaust note from it. I've got great turbo whistle already. What I want to avoid is that nasty, raspy straight pipe sound. A buddy has a 7.3 with straight pipes and I do not like it at all. It sounds like Cherry Bomb mufflers on an old hillbilly truck. I'm hoping that the MBRP muffler would do a good job of "cleaning up" the exhaust note.

Any firsthand experience on this would be great. I'd hate to go changed something that I like and have it come out badly. I was just looking to get some more exhaust efficiency. As always, I appreciate the input.

I run with a muffler and no kitty. Removing the cat should not make it much louder than it is, I think you will like it.

UPDATE: I installed the cat delete pipe last night and am pleased with it so far. It somewhat changed the sound of the turbo whistle when under moderate acceleration, and the "jet plane" noise at idle is noticeably louder. There is a good increase in the "rumble" that the MBRP muffler gives to the exhaust tone.

Also, I am currently running the stock tune but notice that my EGTs are WAY down- under 1000 at WOT. Not sure if this is from removing the tune or not.

Just thought I'd bump this in case anyone else out there was pondering making the move to dump the cat but worried about the sound outcome.

Granted I'm still running factory pipes...minus a kitty (it fell off one day). The turbo "whistle" is quite noticeable when you still have the OEM set up as well. I don't have a pyrometer installed (yet) so I don't know what kind of EGT drop I've expreinced...but there was a slight mileage improvement. About 0.3-0.5 mpg is what I've noticed...but I don't think it's enough to get excited about.
