Lightbulb Excursion return - sort of?

I saw an "extended length" Expedition at the dealership today. Do you suppose that this is how they'll "bring back" the X?

No...but the Expedition EL is suppose to actually compete with the Suburban this time. Most will say that the Excursion was just too crude. And compared to the new EL it IS crude...but in a manly, kick-*** kinda way.

The EL will never be able to do what the Excursion would do in terms of towing but has it beat hands down in passenger creature comforts and safety gizmos.

The excursion isnt to crude, its just perfect. Its for us people who needs an SUV that is truely overkill! Do you guys think that the excursion will still hold its reign in the next five years or so? (meaning do you think that there will be anything that could do what the excursion can do?)

Considering the media reaction when the X was introduced in 99 and gas was under $2, it's unlikely that a mass produced SUV will ever come along to compete with the X in size and power in this day and age.

nahhh

I just drove ~300 mi round trip to Atlantic city and averaged slightly over 18mpg.

Used less than 1/2 tank of fuel too !

Ain't no other 8000lb sled gonna do that.

Hang on to them ,they will be sought after . Their numbers are low , They will become hard to find & their value will increase in years to come . Of course they have to go thru the " nobody wants one " cycle .

What's that ?????

Beforre I recently bought my 05 PSD 4x4 Limited, I drooled over several Excursions. The fact that they were no longer in production didn't change their appeal to me one iota.

I read an article in Car and Driver a while back, and they compared the surburban to the EL, and the EL won in the final verdict!

Those suburbans are getting WAY to car-like for my tastes

YEah, I think the excursion is out for good, but who knows, maybe we'll get lucky...

yeah, but its gonna wear out sometime...

Its only got 100K on it, so its still got some time though

Hopefully there will be something equal or better by the time its time for a replacement truck...

its a shame that our trucks dont hold their value though. i bought mine 1 year ago. all stock and had 4 tv's and a dvd player. v10 limited. it was in mint cond. never towed anything. had 64000 on it. i paid $15000. and they were begging me to take it. but, it was at a chebby stealership...

I plan on keeping mine. Should be good for 250,000 miles. My only difficulty is that I drive it too much because it is so fun to drive.
