Well I plan on keeping mine as long as she will keep running for me. Maybe some day she will be a classic. AS for another vehicle coming out that wouldbe comparable I doubt it. The world is not large SUV friendly. I have gotten so many comments on what do you need that for . I tell them 2 kids , wife, 3 dogs and a lot of skiing and camping trips. No need to jam into something small and be misserable the whle trip . It is also very useful for us guys when we pack 8 of us in for a Giants game or Yankee game. The X has endless uses. Gotta own it to love it is my motto and I love mine everyday.
The Excursion and the superduties might look identical but when it comes to marketing they're both aimed at entirely different demographics so no, advertising most likely wouldn't have saved it.
I've said this before to many people including several Ford Dealers. I think if I keep saying it someone my here it and do it.
Give me an Excursion package option to the F250 CrewCab. It would replace the 6 1/2' bed with a extended cab with third row seating and an Excursion style back door.

I'd be happy to see that.
I don't know these trucks all that well yet, but that seems like a good alternative. My guess is that it makes for an entirely different assembly line though.
I don't think the Expedition XL is selling much better than the Excursion ever did. My local dealer has gotten a black one and a burgundy one so far. They both still sit on the lot looking for a buyer. So FORD should scrap the Expedition XL and make the Excursion again.
njstevens, I'm with you man! totally love my X. As for the nay sayers, who cares? I don't need anyone to tell me what kind and what size vehicle I need!
Most people don't NEED a lot of the things they have. But that's not the point. It's a matter of choice and lifestyle, and last I checked it's still a free country so I will continue to drive my gas guzzlin', "road-hog" X as long as I please!
On a different note, love that idea of moth ballin' an X for something like 20 years! Can you imagine, its the year 2030 and just about all cars are hydo electric or some other sort of B.S. alt. energy. Then you pull out your moth balled, bad *** X from back in the "day" and just tear up the road! Now that would be great!
bulldog, i can just see it. The truck is sitting in your garage for 15 to 20 years under a cover with a full tank of gas in it. Just pull that cover off start it up and take it out and run over all of those tree huggers! Just think about it youd probally be the biggest thing on the road
Personally i think if ford marketed the ex it would have sold.

Great up and until you had to fill it up! It would probably take a second mortgage. Cheap gas is on its way out.
The new Expidition and new Tahoe/ Escalade/ Denali were the deal makers/ breakers for their respective manufacturers. As a die-hard Ford truck fan I'm dissapointed to say that I'd much rather own any of the new GM full size SUVs than a new expidition. Ford really needs to start hopping up the styling on their vehicles. The expidition is just as bland as anything else out there.
That's what I think we all love about Superduties (other than being a Ford truck): they look mean. They look hot. I don't like a full size SUV that looks like it's wearing a big ****-eating grin!
Monsta, youd rather have the expedition interior over the excursion interior?
Oh yeah!

The new Expy's certainyl look better than last year's model. They were very vanilla...at least now they are more like French Vanilla. I like them. Nice angles and textures versus the very slab sided look of the new Suburbans. JMHO.
Oh and Mike...it was the lack of advertising that killed the Excursion not mater what the intended market was. I, for one, think they weren't sure who their intended market was. That's why they installed girly suspension under a manly body.
Ever seea commcercial with a family of 6 or 7 (there are plenty out there) piling into an Excursion with a camper in tow or a horse trailer in tow? Ever seen a commercial of a stripped down XLS on a worksite carrying a team of 8 with all their tools in a trailer in tow? No? Neither did anyone else...
I have owned a expy el for 5 months now with 16000 miles on it so far.
It is one sweet ride but..............
It is not an X I have had 2 of them 01 & 03 7.3 & 6.0.
Guess what ? Now I find my self looking at low mile 05s to buy
I guess I love the truck feeling and sound of the diesel.
What I like is , smoothe ride, power lift gate, 18.5 miles per gallon, heated , cooled ,seats it actually tows good.
I have had a truck for 30 years and now I feel like I have a car.
