By the time I need another, my kids will be older and I won't need 3 rows of seats. I can easily drive a truck. There will ALWAYS be engines and transmissions for these things because of the huge truck and motor home production.
Heresy! You all read it! Heresy, I say! "Just a truck"!?! Heresy!
Alert the magistrate – we have a trial to convene. Trial by ordeal, I should think! Send the constable to arrest the guilt...ah...ah...acccused. Someone, cut the firewood – I smell steak burned heretic!
Would you rather I call it an "SUV"? Or was it my statement that "it is just a truck" that bothers you?
If I get money in the next year or so, I might even buy me a second one and put it in formaldehyde or something
Actually, I WAS being serious. Not about the formaldehyde though.
Personally, I dont think they'll ever again make something this big and gas prices are ONE reason. Now, IF they make a hybrid engine that's strong and fairly cheap that can haul this thing, I can see Ford doing it again.
That it's not as silky smooth and cutsie like the new burbs don't bother me at all. If that's what I wanted, I would have bought one.
Love my truck and love the way it drives. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is the damn seat and I'm gonna fix that one day.
I fimly expect to keep this one till I wear it out. I bought the 100,000 mile/6 years premium care warranty and their 5 year maintenance package so it's not going anywhere 'xcept where daddy tells his lil' boy to go
Besides, I'm not spending all the money on the truck just to lose it when trading it in. Nosiree!
George, shell last alllllooooot longer then your 100,000 mile warrenty, but that was smart to buy. You might as well keep it until she perminatly dies, cause your right you will loose alot of money when you trade it in or sell. Considering that she is near 8,000 pounds and has a v-10.
Who wants there SUV to be "silky and cutie" like the burb? That type of body style isnt truckish enough to me. It don't even have big towing mirriors.
Down in the v-10 forum, they heard of v-10 trucks lasting to 300k easily. If you want yours to last that long alls you have to do is change the oil every 2500 to 3k and the tranny fluid like every 20,000 to 25,000 miles. Thats when i do mine.
Here's something most of you may not realize. As far as size....
A new F150 is longer than an Excursion. It's almost as wide too.
2006 F150 with 8" body, standard cab 229.8" long 2000-2004 Excursion 226.7" 2005 Excursion 226.4"
Width 2006 F150 78.9" Width Excursion 79.9"
I know, comparing apples to oranges. But the point is there is NO reason Ford shouldn't be able to make an Excursion again. It's no bigger than the current F150. All they need is a more powerful fuel efficient V-8 and gear the thing right. Anybody agree?

Vasheriff, i totally agree with you about the demensions. What about height wise though? I am all for another excursion coming. They mayb very close in size, but you also gotta think about the weight. The 3/4 ton frame, suspension, etc weighs more then that of a 1/2 ton frame, suspension, etc. If they cut the weight down, made it more fuel efficent, i think they could pull it off. Just as long as THEY MARKETED IT. They never did that period on the excursion!

Not sure I do 100%. What they need to do is to take the interior of the Expedition and plop it in the Excursion whose new frame would be based off the current SD. Power it with either the V10 or the PSD. The do, however, NEED to get the right rear end gears. 4.10's minimum for the V10 w/ 4.30 optional.
But alas, the Excursion wasn't killed because of it's inability to perform as designed but rather it lackluster sales performance. That was due to, and only due to, the lack of proper advertising of the vehicle.
Yeah, i never bought fuel economy as a reason they killed off the excursion. Since all it is is a superduty, wouldn't they also have killed off the pickup if mileage was the primary reason?
I think if Ford came out with a diesel electric hybrid, dropped it in something excursion sized, and marketed it there WOULD be a market for it.
The excursion is the same thing as a superduty. We all know that. The reason the superduty is around is because they market the crap out of it. They never did that with the excursion. Just imagine if they did do that with the excursion? Sometimes you wish ford and there marketing team weren't retarded.
Monsta, youd rather have the expedition interior over the excursion interior?
