Monsta, despite the job site/worker and family commercial, did you ever see a commercial for the excursion out of its sort lived life span? I sure didnt!

I don't think i could ever change to a 1/2 ton suv. I like the rough, truck like ride and the fact that it is a 3/4 ton. I dislike the smooth car like handling suv's. If my excursion handled smooth i would be disapointed. Thats one of the things that i like about the excursion, is the fact that it has a rough truck like feeling. I like the expy el, its not bad but i would never trade an excursion in over it. I hate to say it, but all of the full size SUV's are all now to carlike. Think about it chevy discountinued the 8.1L, ford distountinued the excursion and dodge doesnt count cause it never had a fullsize suv.

The expedition el will never be an excursion, even if they somehow make a 3/4 EL with a bigger v-8 or even a v-10 in it, although it might make it closer. Your missing the badass body, mirriors and the name Excursion

I love good quotes . But you have to admit though, that the name Excursion and the body say it all!

Oh how true! remember I got out of my 03 Expedition to get BACK in to an Excursion. Those Expys are nice but they just don't feel like a truck. I like the truck feel. But I do hate the lack of attention the Excursion's interior got.

Monsta, if you had to keep the Excursions interior but improve on it what would you do?

Give all 9 (or 8) passengers a shoulder belt.

Give all 9 (or 8) passengers a head rest.

Put real cloth on the seats that doesn't stain with water.

Move the second row back 4-5 inches.

Move the second row door handles back on the door about 8 inches.

Put door pockets for the second row.

Put cupholders in those door pockets.

Make the second row seat movement controls more intuative.

Get the spare tire out of the back.

Widen the third seat accordingly.

Move the third row back that same as the second row.

Smooth/remove/redesign that step that is at the foot of the thrid row passenger's feet.

Allow the third seat to recline.

Make it either a 50/50 seat or a 60/40 seat. Let it be removed whole or as an individual seat.

Give the front buckets longer armrests.

Passenger rear A/C controls should be in the center console.

Trucks w/o center console should have the passenger rear A/C control delete option. (I never use mine). In fact...maybe all truck could have that option. It would make adding video screens easier.

That's about it.

If you move the second and third row back then how will you have the trunk space. I wouldnt mind if they made the Excursion a couple feet longer

I think by removing the spare the space "lost" by moving the seats back 6" will be made up.

we just cruised 1000 miles in our 00 Excursion 2wd V10 limited. Comfortable as heck, smooth (except for a small amount of out of balance front tire vibration now fixed) and got about 18mpg at 70 mph. And It tows my 7000 lb trailer like its a toy. What more could I ask for? Maybe a 2004 model

..do you get that kind of mileage?

I don't get even close to it and I'm NOT towing! Are you sure about your numbers and HOW do you figure it out?

The Expedition EL would be much much closer to the Excursion in towing capability if only they would put a diesel engine in it...
